Battery Degradation and Lifetime Estimator

Cycle life used, cycles and energy throughput remaining, and warranty time left, so you can see which limit binds first.

Inputs

Battery and service history

Capacity when new, from the datasheet.

Average share of nameplate cycled each cycle. Shallower cycling adds up to the same full-equivalent cycles.

From the warranty: full-equivalent cycles guaranteed.

Total throughput divided by usable capacity, from monitoring or the warranty counter.

Calendar age, which matters because the warranty usually ends at whichever comes first: years or throughput.

Warranty duration from the datasheet.

What to check

  • Warranted cycles AND warranted throughput from the warranty text; whichever figure arrives first ends coverage.
  • Full-equivalent cycles used, from monitoring rather than counting on/off events.
  • Average depth of discharge over the battery's life, not just today's setting.
  • Calendar age and the warranty term, since lithium also ages while idle.
  • Temperature history: sustained heat accelerates capacity fade beyond the nameplate cycle count assumption.

Related calculators

Life estimate from cycle and throughput accounting. Capacity fade is not linear and is not modeled: real remaining health needs a capacity test or BMS state-of-health reading. Warranty terms, and any excluded conditions such as temperature or depth-of-discharge abuse, come from the manufacturer warranty document.
