What to check

  • Replacement year: warranted years and warranted throughput, whichever arrives first.
  • Installed cost per kWh from a current quote, including labor and any panel or wiring work.
  • Price trend: battery $/kWh has generally fallen, so a negative annual rate is often more realistic than a positive one.
  • Whether your warranty includes labor or only the battery hardware.
  • Reserve already set aside and where it is held; a sinking fund is only useful if it is not spent elsewhere.

Straight-line budget projection at a constant price trend. It is not an investment projection or a warranty valuation. Actual replacement cost depends on future equipment prices, incentive law at that time, and whether a panel or inverter upgrade is also required.
